About Us

The Family Credit Union has been proudly serving members since 1935. What began under a stairwell inside the Davenport Kohrs plant as Kohrs Credit Union, later Oscar Mayer Credit Union, was built on a foundation of people-first service for plant workers. With just two employees, the mission was simple: provide trusted financial solutions while treating every member like family.

As our membership grew, so did our reach. In the 1970s, we launched the Kirby Kangaroo Club to spark lifelong financial education for kids, and in the 1980s, we became the first credit union in Iowa to adopt a community charter- officially becoming The Family Credit Union. Over the decades, strategic mergers and branch expansions have helped us grow into new communities across Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska.

Today, with 10 full-service locations in Davenport, Bettendorf, Silvis, Muscatine, Perry, Beardstown, and Omaha- along with modern digital tools and bilingual Spanish services- we're committed to making banking simple, innovative, and accessible. Our offerings span real estate and consumer lending, savings and investment options, and everyday convenience services like debit cards, credit cards, and bill pay.
