DESCRIPTION:The Waste Commission of Scott County\, Linwood Mining and Minerals\, and Waga Energy will hold a ribbon cutting on Wednesday\, November 19\, 2025 at 1:00 PM.  The event will take place at the Scott Area Landfill\, 11555 110th Avenue (County Road Y-48\, Buffalo).\n\n \n\nWaste Commission of Scott County\, Linwood Mining and Minerals\, and Waga Energy announce the start-up of a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facility at the Scott Area Landfill in Davenport\, Iowa\, bringing locally sourced energy to the community and reducing on-site emissions.\n\n \n\nWaga Energy\, a global leader in landfill gas-to-RNG\, commissioned a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production facility at the Scott Area Landfill in Davenport\, Iowa.  The site is operated by the Waste Commission of Scott County on a Linwood Mining and Minerals property.  This innovative facility uses Waga Energy's patented WAGABOX  technology to upgrade landfill gas into pipeline compliant RNG\, injected directly into the MidAmerican Energy pipeline.\n\n \n\nThe facility has an installed capacity of over 205\,000 MMBtu (60GWh) of RNG per year.  Approximately 15\,800 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions will be avoided annually due to the displacement of fossil fuels.  This is equivalent to reducing the emissions from 15.3 million gallons of diesel consumed in one year.\n\n \n\nWaga Energy designed\, built\, owns\, and operates the plant for a 20-year initial term\, sharing revenue with Waste Commission of Scott County to cover their operational expenses\, and with Linwood Mining and Minerals\, who leases the property to the Commission.  Waga Energy will also support the Commission's ongoing wellfield operations to optimize methane capture and maximize renewable energy production.\n\n \n\nThe Scott Area Landfill processes around 185\,000 tons of waste annually from 17 municipalities and Scott County.
