SUMMARY:Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion breakout sessions - Schabel Solutions to present at Iowa Hospital Association Virtual Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Session 1: 10/5 at 1pm: "Exploring the "Why" Behind Your Hospital DEI Efforts"\n\n\nClaudia Schabel\, Founder and CEO of Schabel Solutions\, Des Moines\n\nIn the last six decades\, multiple organizations have focused on advancing their diversity\, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts in the US and abroad. Because of these efforts\, some organizations have achieved cultural shift and organizational results. On the other hand\, some organizations are still debating and struggling to understand why DEI is critical to their organizational performance. Understanding the "why" behind your organizational DEI efforts will enable your organization to be strategically positioned to achieve its goals and vision. This session will share research-based evidence of why DEI efforts can improve organizational performance and explore the "why" along the way.\n\nLearning objectives:\n\n Discuss the link between DEI and organizational performance.\n\n Explain how hospitals can better articulate their "why" to guide strategic efforts. Explore how to launch strategic DEI efforts to improve the patient experience.\n\n\n\n?Session 2: 10/7 at 1pm: "Getting Started: Launching DEI Strategic Efforts"\n\n\nClaudia Schabel\, Founder and CEO\, Schabel Solutions\, Des Moines\n\nOrganizations in the US and beyond invest in strategies designed to enhance and leverage a diverse workforce. Diversity plays a fundamental role in the success of organizations\, but leaders must think beyond "diversity for the sake of diversity" and make inclusion a part of their organization's vision. An inclusive workplace values every employee\, regardless of roles\, job titles and tenure\, and places an emphasis on equality\, human rights and employee welfare. Developing a diverse and inclusive organization requires strategy\, clear expectations and accountability.\n\nLearning objectives:\n\n Describe and share DEI efforts in progress in the group.\n\n Discuss five DEI best practices that affect health care organizational performance.
